Creating your own Magic

I have been burning the midnight oil lately gearing up for the Halloween Xspo in a few days. I haven’t been part of the “creative” community since pre-covid. Actually, if I think about it, the last event that I had an art booth at was a Comic-Con/Halloween event in October 2019.
I dressed up like Beetlejuice and had a blast selling my artwork. At that time, my focus was on the Comic-Con crowd, Marvel characters, but what I was starting to realize is that my creepy cute renditions of horror movie villains, like Pennywise, and Freddy, as well as the Sanderson sisters, and Beetlejuice were what people were interested in.

I have put creating art and crafts on the backburner. I experienced burnout, then the birth of my son in 2021, and many other life events that I felt took precedence over spending time on art. At the beginning of this year I wanted to change that, get back to a part of me that makes me “special”, but it was also a revamp. My previous small business model died during the pandemic, at first it felt like a loss, RIP LCM Artwork, but rising from the ashes like the phoenix is Black Moon Crafts.
It is a true representation of myself, rather than catering to what I hope other people like. How can you be driven by passion? Finding what truly brings you joy, and letting it take the wheel. For me that is everything witchcraft, paranormal, occult, supernatural. Our world used to have magic lurking in the dark corners of the unexplained. Now that magic is reserved for children, who still believe in fairies, mermaids, aliens, and bigfoot. As for us adults, our magic lies dormant within us, until we want to believe that we can manifest our own reality. Black Moon Crafts is my manifestation of my magic. Working my magic into fun artwork, and handmade crafts and goods.
As Dr. Frank-N-Furter says, “Don’t dream it, Be it!”
So my magical friends, give a small part of your day, be that its 30 minutes to an hour to your craft. Create that magic that is missing from the world.
As always,
Lumine Lunae Ductus
